Some great news concerning the rumors of Edward possibly being in the “Avengers” movie!

Audiences and comic fans who feared that Edward Norton burned his bridges with Marvel, after the actor clashed with the studio over the final edit of The Incredible Hulk, may be surprised to hear that Norton is still Marvel’s go-to guy for the role of Dr. Bruce Banner.

On the subject of the not-too-distant Avengers film, which sees Iron Man, Captain America, and Thor join forces to form a team, Marvel Studios head honcho Kevin Feige told SFX Magazine that the Hulk would indeed be one of the teammates. On Norton returning to the role: “It’s certainly our intention to use the same actors from film to film where we can.”

While not an outright confirmation that Norton will be back as the Hulk, it’s good to know that the character will be a part of the Avengers. He’s a founding member of the team in the comics, and the seeds were laid in The Incredible Hulk (with a last-minute cameo by Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark) for his story to continue into multiple films. Feige is also considering a Hulk sequel, but it’s not something they’re going to seriously pursue until after Avengers is released in 2012.
